First-fix electrical installation of a new build
On this new build we carried out the first, most important phase of the electrical installation work. We delivered the entire project with modern living standards and energy efficiency in mind, and with an emphasis on making sure the electrical installation is ready for any future expansion.
Work carried out as part of the project
- Setting out and routing to the design Precise setting out of positions for sockets, switches, lighting points and kitchen circuits in line with the project documentation and the owner's requirements.
- Cutting chases and fitting boxes Careful cutting of cable routes into the masonry and drilling of holes for the boxes. We used deep back boxes, which will make it easier to fit modern switches or smart home modules in future.
- Running cables (power and extra-low voltage) We ran the main cable routes (NYM-J) in protective conduit (flexible corrugated conduit) across the floors and ceiling structures, which eliminated unnecessary chiselling into load-bearing walls. At the same time we ran UTP data cables for stable internet in every room, as well as the TV cabling.
- Preparation for the exterior and technical systems We ran cable routes out for the external blinds, air conditioning and heat pump, and made advance provision for the garden gate, fencing and video door entry system.
- Bringing the cabling together at the main distribution board All cable circuits were brought to the location of the future distribution board and consistently marked and labelled, which guarantees 100% clarity during the subsequent second fix.
Result
The first-fix cabling was handed over in a clean state, exactly in line with the construction programme. The entire electrical installation is ready for the next steps – pouring the screeds, plastering and the subsequent final second fix of light fittings and wiring accessories.
